To our Customers
As an introduction to our web site we thought it would be
appropriate to recall briefly the history of the O'Connor Company and restate the
principles which have sustained us and helped us grow in a highly competitive industry.
Joe O'Connor in 1920 moved to Wichita, Kansas to start a business
representing manufacturers of steam and hot water heating equipment, controls and
accessories. The business grew as Joe built a reputation for handling quality products and
having the best engineers and support people to serve a growing list of customers. By the
1930's the company had taken on additional lines as well as a larger territory and two
branch offices were opened in Oklahoma: Oklahoma City in 1932 and Tulsa in 1934.
Bob Piller, Joe's son-in-law, joined the company in the fall of 1949
and later under his direction the company expanded from its commercial and industrial
roots into the growing light commercial and residential heating and air conditioning
markets. The range of products offered by the company increased as did the customer base
it served.
I joined the company in 1979 and thus became the third generation of
family to own and operate the business. In 1990, we grew again adding branches in Kansas
City and Omaha and my brother Tom came on board at that time to help us manage our growth.
We have been and continue to be a family business which has been fortunate over the years
to have talented people working with us; they and you are the keys to our success.
We do business straight-up and relationships are important to us. If
you have a problem, we have a problem and we want to work with you in getting it solved.
Our philosophy is that in order to get someone's business you have to earn it and everyone
at O'Connor works hard to do just that.
On behalf of all of us at the O'Connor Company, thanks for your
business.
Lynn Piller
